At Dead Sailor Apparel we respect your privacy. This policy explains which personal data we collect, why we collect it and what rights you have. We process personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What data we collect

  • Order data: name, shipping and billing address, email address, phone number (if provided), ordered products and payment status.
  • Account data: if you create an account, your login details and order history.
  • Newsletter data: your email address, if you sign up.
  • Customer service: the content of messages you send us.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information and browsing behaviour on our site, collected through cookies.

We do not store your full payment card details. Payments are handled by our payment providers.

3. Why we use your data and on what legal basis

  • Processing and delivering your order — necessary to perform our agreement with you.
  • Customer service and handling returns — necessary to perform our agreement.
  • Complying with tax and accounting obligations — legal obligation.
  • Sending our newsletter — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email.
  • Analytics and marketing cookies — your consent via the cookie banner.
  • Securing our store and preventing fraud — our legitimate interest.

4. Who we share data with

We only share your data with parties that help us run our store, and only as far as needed:

  • Shopify, the platform our store runs on
  • Payment providers that process your payment
  • Our production and fulfilment partner, which prepares and ships your order
  • Shipping carriers that deliver your order

Some of these parties are based outside the European Economic Area, such as in the United States. In that case, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. We never sell your personal data.

5. How long we keep your data

We keep order and invoice data for 7 years, as required by Dutch tax law. We keep newsletter data until you unsubscribe. We keep customer service messages for as long as needed to handle your question, and at most 2 years afterwards. Account data is kept until you delete your account.

6. Cookies

We use functional cookies that are needed for the store to work, such as your shopping cart. We only use analytics and marketing cookies if you give consent via the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive your data in a portable format. If we process data based on your consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time. To use any of these rights, email us at info@deadsailorapparel.com. We respond within one month.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or with the supervisory authority in your own EU country.

8. Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against loss and unauthorised access. Our store uses an encrypted (SSL) connection.

We may update this privacy policy. The latest version is always available on this page.
